Spiced Chocolate Spread with Pears, Wholegrain Bread & Pistachios

About this recipe

Making your own “nutella” is actually super easy and satisfying even if you only have a bullet blender. I’m always criticised for not making sweet dishes and desserts. Hopefully this will make up for the lack of them!

This will keep in an airtight jar in the fridge for 2 weeks. Enjoy with your choice of whole fruit and nuts and experiment with different spices (nutmeg, cinnamon, dried ginger)

Shop this recipe:

  • 100g Hazelnuts, soaked 
  • 2 tsp Honey
  • 100g Soft prunes/ dates 
  • Pinch Sea salt 
  • 1 tsp Chai spices - cinnamon 
  • Around 4-6 tbsp hot water 
  • 50g Dark chocolate, roughly chopped  

To serve:

  • Your favourite bread (pure grain original bread)
  • 1 pear, sliced 
  • Handful of chopped nuts (pistachios)

Place all the ingredients apart from the chocolate into a food processor along with 2 tbsp of hot water. Blitz until it forms a smooth paste, adding hot water, 1 tbsp at a time, if needed. 

Once a paste forms, add in the chopped dark chocolate, again adding a little more water if needed to help the mixture blend. 

Serve with toast, pear and chopped nuts.
